OUTDOOR LIVING

Updated: Apr 15, 2020

We have a very typical Charleston style home, and with the completion of our pool we wanted our outdoor spaces to truly be used in a way that allowed for maximum seating

BEFORE shot of the pool house -- with no pool yet!

Our home is a mossy green with white trim, and my point of inspiration for the back outdoor areas started with these black & white striped outdoor draperies from Ballard Designs. I like these because they are durable and can easily be washed each season to get rid of pollen and mildew. All of the design details were built off of these drapery panels as I love the way they frame the pool house and offer additional shade from the afternoon sun that can be very intense here in Charleston.

Hubby's request for our pool house was to maximize seating and this request for the screened in porch was to maximize lounge time. Selamat's Regeant Daybed is long and deep enough for afternoon snuggles with a kid or two, and I love to stack pillows upon pillows for extra comfort. Hubby has been known to take a nap or two on Saturdays on this big and comfortable daybed. We added two Tivoli Arm Chairs as they are slim and the perfect size for this small area.

The pool house has plenty of seating for hours of hanging out with neighbors and friends. I absolutely LOVE our Four Season Regeant Sofa because the frame is made of powder coated aluminum. It will maintain its color and finish for years to come in the harsh Charleston salty air. We added two Soren Occasional Chairs as well, and the caned detail is just beautiful on the backs of these chairs. Although their frames are not metal, we are going to watch them in the years to come to see if we need to move them to a safer place. For now, they seem to be just fine under this covered area.

I am so thrilled with the outcome of this project and I can't wait to create many memories with my family and friends!

XO, Julianne
